“the most painful story is the one that has not been heard”

My approach is influenced by the Ubuntu philosophy. The Zulu phrase “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” literally translates to “I am because we are”. It emphasises interconnectedness and oneness. As a systemic consultant, a therapist or a coach, I am interested in the interconnected nature of human relationships. Stories about being and belonging are created in these relationships. A culture is created in these relationships. Belief systems are co-created in these relationships. These belief systems influence who we are at home or at work. They influence our values. What we feel we can do or not do. Say or not say.

Taking a stance of curiosity about human relationships affords me the ability to listen to understand and be curious about what the effects of these stories are on how one turns up at work, at home or in other relationships. Understanding ones sense of identity from the relationships they have been a part of or are a part of creates a space were transformative conversations can be had and heard.
